Fine Art Friday

Hello and Happy Friday!! I am continuing with the fall theme this week, after all, "When in Rome!" Enjoy the work from these very talented artists, I certainly will!

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."
-George Eliot

1.) Modernist Painting-Intensity
2.) Autumn Forest
3.) Orange Autumn Garlands
4.) Tree Art - Welcome Change

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

-John Keats

Have a great weekend!!

In Your Absence

Not yet summer,
but unseasonable heat
pries open the cherry tree.

It stands there stupefied,
in its sham, pink frills,
dense with early blooming.

Then, as afternoon cools
into more furtive winds,
I look up to see
a blizzard of petals
rushing the sky.

It is only April.
I can't stop my own life
from hurrying by.
The moon, already pacing.

Orange Facts:

* Orange is a relative of the color red, and sparks more controversy than any other color. There is a strong positive or negative attraction to orange and true orange generally elicits a stronger "love it" or "hate it" response than other colors. Fun and flamboyant orange radiates warmth and energy.

* It is interesting to note that some tones of orange, such as terra cotta, peach, and rust have very broad appeal.

*How the color orange affects us physically
- Stimulates activity
- Stimulates appetite
- Encourages socialization

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep."
-Scott Adams

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend - I was sick, but my wonderful husband took charge of the kids ALL day Saturday and I was able to get some much needed rest! I thanked him and his comment was, "I did not know I had it in me!" I feel the same when I see paintings, I just am not artistic in that manner. Today's mosaic is a compilation of some of my favorite abstract pieces and I think it looks lovely - don't you? Enjoy!

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises." -Pedro Calderon de la Barca

Hello! Is it possible for me to have a Friday Favorites blog post without any green items in it? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I just cannot help myself, I gravitate towards green without even thinking about it. Here are some interesting facts about the color green which help explain why. Enjoy!

Green occupies more space, in the spectrum visible to the human eye, than any other color, and is second only to blue as a favorite. Green is the most common color in the natural world, making it an ideal backdrop in design because we are so used to seeing it everywhere.

Natural greens, from forest to lime, are seen as tranquil and refreshing. Green is considered the color of peace and ecology.

There is also another side to green, one associated with illness and government-issued green cards, that conjures up negative emotions, as do the "slimy" or "bilious" greens.

How the color green affects us physically
* Soothes
* Relaxes mentally, as well as physically
* Helps alleviate depression, nervousness, and anxiety
* Offers a sense of renewal, self-control, and harmony
