Mosaic Monday

“No man or woman is an island. To exist just for yourself is meaningless. You can achieve the most satisfaction when you feel related to some greater purpose in life, something greater than yourself.”
-Denis Waitley

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.”
-Henry David Thoreau

About Sea Glass:

Uses:

Because of its beauty, artisans use sea glass in jewelry, picture and mirror frames, and in mosaics.

Artificial Sea Glass:

Since is getting harder to find sea glass (with the decrease of littering), some people make sea glass in rock tumblers. It is possible to tell the difference between real and artificial sea glass using a microscope.

Fun Fact:

Sea glass may be the only case in which littering produces something of beauty.

“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked”
-Bernard Meltzer

Happy Monday! I really thought spring had arrived in my neck of the woods - however I was sadly mistaken! Today it is raining and in the 30's, with a chance of snow and below average temperatures for the remainder of the week. Oh well, a girl can dream, can't she? Today's mosaic is of the first thing that pops to mind when I think of spring. Enjoy!

My creation

"It's Spring"
By: Samantha Berger and Pamela Chanko

In April the robin began to sing,
to tell the rabbit it was spring.

The rabbit hopped and thumped his feet,
to tell the deer the air smelled sweet.

The little deer ran with the bunny,
to tell the duck the sky was sunny.

The duck swam off and gave a quack,
to tell the cow, "The leaves are back!"

The cow let out a long moooooo,
to tell the horse that flowers grew.

The horse went trotting down the lane,
to tell the rooster, "Watch for rain!"

The rooster gave a mighty crow,
to tell the mouse, "There's no more snow!"

The mouse just made a tiny peep,
to tell the birds to start to cheep.

Then all the birds began to sing,
to tell the bears, "Wake up it's spring!"

-Ovid

Hello! I don't know about you, but when it comes to the ocean I always am overcome by a myriad of emotions. I am in awe of the beauty. The sound can lull me to sleep. Scared of the power. It is amazing what water can do - phenomenal actually! Enjoy!

Hello! Being in the Bahamas & Florida last week left me longing to work outside in my gardens.... However, as I look out my window, the 3 feet of snow is preventing me from doing that! Since I cannot garden I decided to do the next best thing - look at some of my favorite English country gardens online and share them with you, Enjoy!

“Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions.”
-Pablo Picasso

Hello! I was thinking about color last night and became so thankful that I have my sight. The beauty of the world around us is a site to behold and I would hate to miss any of it! My thoughts about color led me to think about food - it is recommended that we eat a lot of colorful foods because they are good for us. Well, that makes sense - if seeing color makes me happy, then it stand to reason that eating colorful foods would make my body happy! Enjoy!

“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle”
-Proverb

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend - don't they just FLY by? I know not everyone celebrates the holidays quite the same, but no matter how you choose (or not) to celebrate, you cannot deny the beauty of holiday lights! Today's mosaic is a different way to look at those lights! Enjoy!

"There are two kinds of light - the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures."
-James Thurber
