Mosaic Monday

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”
-Mahatma Gandhi

Hello - I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Mine was full of fun and laughs, you cannot complain about that! I do not know about you, but even at 41 I still love to go to the zoo! Seeing the animals always makes me smile! Today's mosaic is comprised of some wonderful animals, Enjoy!

Mosaic Monday

“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked”
-Bernard Meltzer

Happy Monday! I really thought spring had arrived in my neck of the woods - however I was sadly mistaken! Today it is raining and in the 30's, with a chance of snow and below average temperatures for the remainder of the week. Oh well, a girl can dream, can't she? Today's mosaic is of the first thing that pops to mind when I think of spring. Enjoy!

My creation

"It's Spring"
By: Samantha Berger and Pamela Chanko

In April the robin began to sing,
to tell the rabbit it was spring.

The rabbit hopped and thumped his feet,
to tell the deer the air smelled sweet.

The little deer ran with the bunny,
to tell the duck the sky was sunny.

The duck swam off and gave a quack,
to tell the cow, "The leaves are back!"

The cow let out a long moooooo,
to tell the horse that flowers grew.

The horse went trotting down the lane,
to tell the rooster, "Watch for rain!"

The rooster gave a mighty crow,
to tell the mouse, "There's no more snow!"

The mouse just made a tiny peep,
to tell the birds to start to cheep.

Then all the birds began to sing,
to tell the bears, "Wake up it's spring!"

Friday Favorites: 10/8/2010

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises." -Pedro Calderon de la Barca

Hello! Is it possible for me to have a Friday Favorites blog post without any green items in it? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I just cannot help myself, I gravitate towards green without even thinking about it. Here are some interesting facts about the color green which help explain why. Enjoy!

Green occupies more space, in the spectrum visible to the human eye, than any other color, and is second only to blue as a favorite. Green is the most common color in the natural world, making it an ideal backdrop in design because we are so used to seeing it everywhere.

Natural greens, from forest to lime, are seen as tranquil and refreshing. Green is considered the color of peace and ecology.

There is also another side to green, one associated with illness and government-issued green cards, that conjures up negative emotions, as do the "slimy" or "bilious" greens.

How the color green affects us physically
* Soothes
* Relaxes mentally, as well as physically
* Helps alleviate depression, nervousness, and anxiety
* Offers a sense of renewal, self-control, and harmony
